High carbon ferrochrome can be produced by a variety of methods, including the electric Furnace Method, the Submerged Arc Furnace (SRC Method), the DC Arc Plasma Furnace Method, and the Plasma Chromium Method.
The electric furnace method is currently the most commonly used method of high-carbon ferrochrome production. In an electric arc furnace, the raw material is heated by electric current to reduce chromium oxide containing ores to ferrochrome alloys. This method uses electricity as an energy source and has the advantages of cleanliness and controllable high temperature.
