Silico Manganese
Silico Manganese alloy(SiMn), also known as ferro silico manganese alloy(FeSiMn), is an alloy composed of manganese, silicon, iron, a small amount of carbon and other elements. Silico manganese is a toxic metal with a silicon content of about 20% and a ferroalloy containing more than 60% manganese. Block silicomanganese is a light gray alloy and its metallic luster increases with the increase in silicon content. Silicomanganese exists in the form of blocks that are broken into pieces after pouring. Silico manganese is mainly a compound deoxidiser for steelmaking. When it is used to deoxidise, the silicate inclusions produced have a lower melting point than manganese oxide and silicon oxide and are easy to gather and float, resulting in fewer non-metallic inclusions in the steel.

Application Of Silico Manganese
Silicon Manganese Block
1. Deoxidising agent: Silicon-manganese alloy is used as a compound deoxidising agent in the steelmaking process, which can effectively remove the excessive oxygen and sulphur in the steel and improve the purity of steel.
2. Alloying agent: Silicon-manganese alloy can improve the properties of steel and increase the hardness, strength and wear resistance of steel. It is widely used in the production of special steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel and other alloy steel.
3. Ferroalloy production: Silico-manganese alloy containing less than 1.9% carbon is also one of the raw materials used in the production of medium and low carbon ferromanganese and electro-silicon-thermal method of manganese metal.



Silico Manganese Production
The production of silicomanganese alloy is carried out in a mineral heat furnace, i.e. carbon is used as the reducing agent to reduce manganese, silicon, iron and other elements in raw materials such as manganese ore, silica, etc., and different grades of silicomanganese alloy products are produced by controlling the reducing conditions in the furnace.
