Application Of Manganese Metal
Manganese Ingot is mainly used in the steel industry as a deoxidizer, desulfurizer and alloy additive to improve the quality of molten steel and the properties of steel. In the steelmaking process, it is used for deoxidation of steel. An appropriate amount of manganese can effectively increase the strength of steel, eliminate the hot brittle effects of sulfur and oxygen on steel, improve the hot processing performance of steel, and improve the cold brittleness tendency of steel without significantly reducing the plasticity and impact toughness of steel.

Manganese Metal Production
At present, the main production methods of manganese metal include the electro silico thermal method and the electrolysis method.
Industrially, manganese metal is prepared by electrolyzing manganese sulfate solution through direct current. This method is more expensive, but the purity of the finished product is good.
The more commonly used method in China is the electro silico thermal method. The production process of this process is mainly divided into three stages. The first stage is to produce low phosphorus manganese-rich slag; the second stage is to use manganese-rich slag, silica and coke in the submerged arc furnace to produce high silicon silicon manganese alloy; the third stage is to use manganese rich slag and high silicon silico manganese in the refining furnace to produce metallic manganese. The manganese metal produced by the electro silicothermal method has relatively low production cost, high manganese recovery rate, simple method, low impurity content, and high qualification rate of the smelted manganese metal. However, compared with the electrolysis method, this process has relatively high requirements for the grade of manganese ore, and the purity of the obtained metallic manganese is not high, with a manganese content of 94% to 98%.
