Ferro Silicon 65
Ferro Silicon 65 (FeSi 65) is an alloy of iron and silicon used primarily in steelmaking for deoxidation and as an alloying component. Low-aluminium ferrosilicon is mainly used in the production of various special steels.

Improve product properties
Improve product properties - Fe silicon is a convenient way to add silicon as an alloying element to improve various properties of the final steel.
Slag reduction
In stainless steel production, the presence of silicon reduces chromium oxides in the melt and improves the absorption of chromium metal.
Deoxidisation
Ferrous silicon rapidly removes oxygen from the melt, thus avoiding the appearance of inclusions-forming oxides and the loss of required elements.
Types of Ferro Silicon
- Low Carbon Ferro Silicon and Ultra Low Carbon Ferro Silicon - used to avoid the reintroduction of carbon in the manufacture of stainless and electrical steels.
- Low titanium (high purity) ferrosilicon - to avoid TiN and TiC inclusions in electrical and some speciality steels.
- Low Aluminium Ferrosilicon - to avoid the formation of hard Al2O3 and Al2O3-CaO mixtures in all types of steel.
- Special ferrosilicon - a generic term for a range of customised products containing other alloying elements.
