Is there a substitute product for ferrosilicon？

Various alternatives to ferro silicon are currently available on the market.

• Calcium silicon alloy is a product synthesised by adding calcium metal and pure silicon carbide to metallurgical ferro-water. It has antioxidant property and stable composition content, and can replace some applications of ferro silicon.
• Synthetic slag silicon, is a product prepared by using waste slag, pure silicon powder and other materials in the process of converter smelting. It has excellent anti-carbonisation and anti-oxidation properties and is widely used in the iron and steel industry.
• Products such as titanium-silicon alloys and aluminium-silicon-calcium alloys can also replace some of the applications of ferro silicon.

However, these ferro silicon alternatives still have many limitations compared to ferro silicon.

• Calcium silica alloys and synthetic slag silica, although they can replace ferro silicon in some applications, have high costs and small production scales.
• Titanium-silicon alloys, aluminium-silicon calcium alloys and other products have some excellent performance, but the application range is relatively small and cannot cover more areas.

Although there are various ferro silicon substitutes on the market, there is not yet a product that can really replace ferro silicon completely.
