Silicon Carbide (carborundum) is an extremely hard blue-black crystalline compound (SiC) used as an abrasive and a heat refractory material; Silicon carbide crystal can be used as semiconductors. Silicon carbide in the chemical industry can be used as a deoxidising agent for steelmaking and a modifier for the organisation of cast iron, and silicon carbide pellets can be used as a heating agent in the smelting process of the converter.

Black silicon carbide

Black silicon carbide is highly resistant to abrasion and is suitable for maintaining sharpness for a long time. It also has the characteristics of high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance, it can maintain stable physical and chemical properties under high temperature environment and is not easy to be oxidised. In addition, compared with green silicon carbide, black silicon carbide has higher toughness and can withstand larger impact loads, which is suitable for grinding operations that are subject to larger impacts.
