Products Description
The ferro chrome chemical composition is mainly chromium, iron, carbon, silicon, phosphorus and sulphur, with a chromium content of about 40-70 per cent and an iron content of about 30-60 per cent. It is classified according to the content of carbon element. The carbon content of high carbon ferro chrome is about 4-8%. Medium carbon ferro chrome has a carbon content of about 0.5-4%. Low-carbon ferro chrome has a carbon content of about 0.15-0.50 per cent. Microcarbon ferro chrome has a carbon content of approximately 0.06%. Ultra-fine carbon ferro chrome has a carbon content of less than 0.03 per cent.

Role of different ingredients
Chromium (Cr)
The element chromium in ferrochrome is a key element in the production of stainless steel, providing excellent corrosion resistance. Chromium reacts with oxygen to form a chromium film, which effectively prevents oxidation and corrosion and improves the alloy's high temperature strength and oxidation resistance. In addition, chromium increases the hardness and wear resistance of the alloy.
Carbon (C)
Ferrochrome with different carbon content serves different purposes. High-carbon ferrochrome is used where high hardness and wear resistance are required. Low carbon ferrochrome is used where high corrosion resistance and toughness are required. Carbon reacts with iron to form carbides, which increase the hardness and strength of the alloy. The higher the carbon content, the better the wear resistance of the alloy. However, the carbon content should be controlled according to the actual situation, and too high carbon content will also affect the toughness of the alloy.
Iron (Fe)
Iron is the matrix of ferrochrome alloys and ensures the basic mechanical properties of the alloy. Iron is the main matrix material in the production of stainless and alloy steels. As the main component of ferrochrome alloys, iron provides the basic mechanical properties and structural support.
Silicon (Si)
Silicon is a deoxidiser when smelting ferrochrome. It removes oxygen from the molten metal and reduces porosity and inclusions. Silicon improves the fluidity of the molten alloy, facilitating casting and moulding. A moderate amount of silicon also improves the strength and hardness of the alloy.
