Classification of Ferro Manganese
There is a wide range of ferromanganese alloys, which can be categorized into three types according to their carbon content: low carbon ferromanganese, medium carbon ferromanganese and high carbon ferromanganese. High carbon ferromanganese refers to the alloy material composed of iron and manganese with carbon content between 2% and 8%. Compared with other ferromanganese alloys, high carbon ferromanganese has the advantages of high hardness, good abrasion resistance, high strength, impact resistance, etc. It is used in metal smelting, electronic devices and casting and other fields.
Preparation Of High Carbon Ferromanganese
The preparation methods of high carbon ferromanganese include electric furnace method and blast furnace method. The electric furnace method can be subdivided into three types: less solvent method, solvent-free method and solvent method. Less solvent method refers to put limestone in the electric furnace, through the control of slag alkalinity ratio, to obtain manganese-containing slag, and then through the smelting process to produce high-carbon ferromanganese; blast furnace method refers to lime, coke and manganese ore as raw materials, which will be put into the blast furnace for smelting, and then produce finished products, which has the advantages of low production cost, high yield of finished products and other advantages, and it is the mainstream method of high-carbon ferromanganese preparation.
The Future Trend Of High Carbon Ferromanganese
High carbon ferromanganese is a representative product of ferromanganese alloy. According to the current situation analysis data of high carbon ferromanganese industry, in 2022, China's high carbon ferromanganese production reached nearly 1.2 million tons, occupying nearly 60% of the total output of manganese ferroalloys. The main raw material of high carbon ferromanganese is manganese ore. The main origin of manganese ore in China includes Hunan, Inner Mongolia, Guangxi, Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, Jiangxi and so on. China's manganese ore resources reserves are relatively low, and there are problems such as high mining cost, low grade and high impurity content. In recent years, along with the tightening of China environmental protection policies, China's manganese ore production has continued to decline, and the scale of imports has been growing.
High carbon ferromanganese has many applications in metal smelting, including steelmaking and alloy manufacturing. High carbon ferromanganese can be used as a steelmaking deoxidizer, the future along with the increasingly strong downstream demand, its industry development trend will continue to improve.
