What is graphitised petroleum coke?

Graphitised petroleum coke is a kind of petroleum coke treated by high temperature calcination. It changes the physical and chemical properties of petroleum coke through high-temperature treatment, and the carbon atoms are arranged in a highly ordered manner, showing a layered graphite crystal structure, which significantly improves electrical conductivity, chemical stability and carbon purity. This graphitised petroleum coke can be applied in many fields.

Performance indicators

Indicator Range Description
Fixed carbon content ≥98% - 99.5% Extremely high carbon purity and low impurities determine the efficiency of carbon enhancement.
Fixed carbon content ≤0.3% - 0.5% Low sulphur characteristics reduce the sulphur pollution of metal liquid, suitable for high-end casting.
Ash content ≤0.5% - 1.0% Low ash content means less non-carbon impurities, less slag in melting process.
Volatile matter ≤0.5% Almost completely removed after high temperature treatment, avoiding gas defects during melting.
Resistivity 8 - 15 μΩ·m Conductivity close to artificial graphite, suitable for electrode materials.
Absorption 85% - 95% High dissolution efficiency in iron water, reducing carbon loss.
