Production Process Of Silicon Manganese Alloy

Preparation of raw materials

 

Raw materials for the production of silico manganese alloy mainly include manganese ore, manganese-rich slag, silica, coke, dolomite (or limestone), fluorite and so on. Among them, manganese ore and manganese-rich slag are the main sources of manganese. Silica is the main source of silicon. Coke is the reducing agent. Dolomite (or limestone) and fluorite are used to adjust the alkalinity and fluidity of the slag.

 

Smelting

 

The prepared raw materials are added to the mineral heat furnace in a certain proportion and smelted at a high temperature. During the smelting process, coke and manganese ore, silica and other reduction reaction occurs, resulting in silico manganese alloy and slag.

 

Refining

 

The silicon manganese alloy obtained from melting may contain some impurities, such as carbon, sulfur, phosphorus, etc., which need to be refined to improve the quality of the alloy. Refining methods mainly include oxidation refining, reduction refining and so on.

 

Casting and moulding

 

After the silicon manganese alloy after refining reaches the specified composition and temperature, it can be cast and moulded to make the required block or granular products.
