Silicon Metal (Si Metal), also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is mainly used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys. Silicon Metal has a high melting point, good heat resistance, high resistivity and superb oxidation resistance. Si Metal is a product made by smelting quartz and coke in an electric furnace. The main component is silicon, and other impurities are iron, aluminium and calcium.

• Upstream ofSi metals

Silica ore is the most important raw material for the smelting of silicon metal, which is mainly a general term for vein quartz, quartzite and quartz sandstone. Pure silica can be used for quartz glass or refining monocrystalline silicon. The appearance of crystalline silica is generally creamy white, greyish white, light yellow and reddish brown. It has a distinctive lustre, smooth and continuous section with sharp edges, and great hardness and strength. Vein quartz is dense block, pure white, translucent, hair grease luster, section is shell-shaped, quartz crystalline particles more than 2mm, the naked eye can be identified. Quartz sand mainly refers to more silica-containing river sand, sea sand, weathered sand, etc., in addition to the main component of silica, but also contains iron oxide, clay, mica and organic impurities. Quartz sand, according to its own grade of the ore body and the degree of processing is not the same can be divided into quartz sand, quartz powder, ultrafine silica micropowder, square quartz, high purity quartz and so on.
