Silicon Metal 1101

Silicon metal 1101(Si 1101), also known as industrial silicon 1101, is a product smelted from silica and carbonaceous reductant in a mineral heat furnace, with the main ingredient silicon content usually above 98.5% and below 99.99%, and the rest of the impurities being iron, aluminum, calcium, and so on. In China, it is usually classified into different grades such as 553, 441, 421, 3303, 2202, 1101 and so on by the content of iron, aluminum and calcium in silicon metal.

Silicon metal 1101 has a wide range of applications in semiconductor, photovoltaic and electronic fiel andso plays an important role in the steel industry.

Applications of silicon metal in the steel industry:

1. **Deoxidizer**: Si metal 1101 is a commonly used deoxidizer in steel production. In the steelmaking process, silicon metal can react with oxygen in steel to generate silicate and silicic acid, thus reducing the oxygen content in steel and improving the quality of steel.

2. **Alloying Element Additive**: Si metal 1101 can also be added to steel as an alloying element to improve the mechanical and processing properties of steel. For example, silicon steel is an important electrotechnical material with high permeability, low iron loss and good insulating properties, and is widely used in electric power, electronics and communications.

3. **Slag improver**: Silicon metal can also be used as a slag improver in the steel production process. By adding silicon metal to the slag, it can improve the slag's fluidity and desulfurization ability, and improve the efficiency of steelmaking and the quality of molten steel.
