Ferrochromium
Ferrochromium is an alloy made by mixing chromium and iron. FeCr can be divided into 4-8% high-carbon ferrochromium, 0.5-4% medium-carbon ferrochromium, 0.15-0.50% low-carbon FeCr, 0.06% micro-carbon ferrochromium, ultra-micro-carbon FeCr (C < 0.03%), silicon chromium alloy, FeCr nitride and so on according to its carbon content.
The less carbon content in chromite, the more difficult smelting, the greater the energy consumption, the higher the cost. Chromium cast iron with 4% or more carbon content is usually used to cast ball bearing steel and automobile parts. FeCr containing about 5% chromium can be used as an alloy transfer agent.

Uses of Ferrochromium
(1) In the metallurgical industry, FeCr alloy is an important raw material for the production of chromium-iron alloy and chromium system. Chromium-iron alloy is a special kind of steel which is characterized by high strength, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance and oxidation resistance. Chromium metal is used to melt special alloys including cobalt, nickel and tungsten. These special steels and their alloys are essential raw materials for manufacturing weapons, missiles, rockets, and ships.
(2) In refractories, FeCr is mainly used in the production of chrome bricks, chrome-magnesium bricks and other special refractories.
(3) In the chemical industry,FeCr is mainly used in the production of sodium dichromate, which is utilized in the production of other chromium, such as pigments, textiles, electroplating, leather tanning and other industries, and also as a catalyst and catalyst. Chrome ore is mainly sold through three routes: the metallurgical industry, the refractory industry and the chemical industry.
