1. FeSi powder is commonly used as deoxidizer and alloying agent

In the steelmaking industry, in order to obtain steel with qualified chemical composition and ensure the quality of steel, deoxidation must be carried out in the later period of steelmaking. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen in FeSi powder is high, so FeSi powder is a strong deoxidizer for steelmaking, which is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.

2. FeSi powder can be used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys

In the process of ferroalloy production, FeSi powder not only has a strong chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen, but also has a low carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon powder. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon powder in cast iron can prevent the formation of carbides in iron and promote the precipitation and spheroidisation of graphite. Therefore, ferrosilicon is an important inoculant and spheroidising agent in the production of ductile iron.
