Barium Inoculant is an artificially smelted composite polyalloy. The silicon and barium elements in Barium Inoculant can be combined in targeted ratios to meet the requirements of steelmaking or casting.

What is inoculation treatment?
Inoculation treatment refers to the solidification process, adding a small amount of other substances to the liquid metal to promote nucleation, inhibit growth, and achieve the purpose of grain refinement. Customarily, to add additives to the cast iron is known as gestation treatment; to add additives to non-ferrous alloys is known as metamorphic treatment. In essence, the main effect of gestation treatment is to form nuclei and promote the freeing of grains; whereas metamorphic treatment is to change the growth mechanism of crystals (inhibition of growth), thereby affecting the crystal morphology.

Barium Inoculant is a bulk metallurgical material made of silicon powder and barium powder by blending them according to the demanded ratio, and then by refining the steel in high-temperature furnace.Barium Inoculant is widely used in metallurgy, machinery industry, additives for iron, steel and non-ferrous metals and alloying agents, reduction degassing and purification to improve the mechanical properties of the materials and the effect of application.

The block size of Barium Inoculant should be of uniform particle size and moderate size so as not to affect the breeding effect. The molten iron should be fully stirred after holding and then slagging.

Barium Inoculant is generally controlled at 0.3%-0.6%, do not blindly increase, too much pregnant dose will increase the viscosity of the molten iron, slag entrapment, small holes and shrinkage tendency.
