Ferro alloys silicon manganese is made from manganese oxide in manganese ore (containing manganese slag) and silicon dioxide in silicaby as raw materials, which are reduced with carbon in a submerged arc furnace. Ferro alloys silicon manganese is widely used, the output is large, commonly used as a compound deoxidizer, is also the main raw material of silicon thermal production of low-carbon ferromanganese and metallic manganese.

Ferro alloys silicon manganese is produced by melting silicon, manganese and iron with a reducing agent (usually coke or coal). The main raw materials used in the production of silicomanganese are manganese ore, high-carbon ferromanganese slag, quartzite, coke and coal, and a flux (dolomite or calcite). The main sources of manganese for silicomanganese production are manganese ore and manganese-rich slag from high-carbon ferromanganese production. For silico-manganese production in SAF, C (coke and coal) is used as a reducing agent, while heat is provided by electricity.
