Composition of ferro silico

 

FeSi is composed primarily of iron (70% to 75%) and silicon (15% to 30%) with traces of other elements such as carbon, aluminum and calcium. The composition of ferrosilicon can vary according to the specific requirements of the customer's industry. Different grades of ferrosilicon can be produced to meet the required silicon content and other specifications. Common ferrosilicon specifications include FeSi65, FeSi70, FeSi72, FeSi75, and others.

Classification of ferro silico

Ferro silico is divided into four categories according to smelting method: high si ferro silico (GG), ordinary ferro silico (PG), low aluminum ferrosilicon (DL) and high purity ferro silico (GC). High purity ferro silico refers to ferro silico with low content of impurity elements produced by extra-oven refining method. According to the silicon and its impurity content (mass fraction), different uses, divided into four categories of 40 grades, of which 10 grades of ordinary ferro silico, low aluminum ferro silico 8 grades, high silicon ferro silico 9 grades, 13 grades of high-purity ferro silico. The national standard is GBT 2272-2020

 

Upstream and downstream of ferro silico

The upstream of FeSi is mainly silica ore and ferrosilicon smelters, and China's silica ore is mainly distributed in the northwest of Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia and other areas. Ferrosilicon smelters are relatively concentrated, and the main producing areas are Qinghai, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia and Gansu, and the ferrosilicon production of these four provinces accounts for 65% of the total national production.

The downstream of ferrosilicon is mainly used for smelting iron and steel and magnesium metal, of which iron and steel accounts for 75% and magnesium metal accounts for 15%. Data statistics ferrosilicon from the production area to transport to the steel mills required by the railroad freight is about 250-350 or so. Ferrosilicon and manganese silicon consumption area and iron and steel industry capacity layout coincides with the Hebei Province, Jiangsu Province is the largest consumption of provinces, Hebei accounted for 25%, Jiangsu accounted for more than 10%, mainly because these two places are the concentration of steel mills.
