Product Description
Ferro silicon is an alloy composed of silicon and iron, the main components include silicon, aluminum, calcium, manganese, chromium, phosphorus, sulfur and carbon elements, it is an important alloy product in the metallurgical industry. The raw materials of ferro silicon are coke, steel chips and quartz (or silica). It can be divided into 21 grades according to the different elemental contents, and the chemical composition of different grades is different.

Role of Elemental Silicon
1. Deoxidizer
Elemental silicon can react with oxides in steel to produce silicon dioxide and release oxygen, removing impurities from steel and improving its purity.
2. Alloy additive
Elemental silicon increases the strength and hardness of steel and improves the mechanical properties of steel, such as wear resistance, corrosion resistance and fatigue resistance.
3. Inoculants and spheroidizing agents
During the casting process, elemental silicon can promote graphite precipitation and spheroidization, improving the microstructure and mechanical properties of cast iron.
4. Improvement of liquid steel fluidity
Ferrosilicon can improve the liquid steel fluidity and reduce surface tension, which is favorable to the casting of steel.
5.Promote grain refinement
Silicon in ferrosilicon can form solid-phase particles in the liquid steel, promoting grain refinement, thus improving the mechanical properties of steel.
