Silicon Carbide  Powder Description

Silicon Carbide Powder is a lightweight ceramic material with strength comparable to diamond. It has excellent thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion, and is resistant to acids and corrosion. Silicon Carbide Powder is an excellent ceramic material for applications requiring good corrosion, heat and wear resistance. As such, it can be used in a variety of applications, including nozzles, blast nozzles and cyclone components. Silicon carbide powder including black silicon carbide powder and green silicon carbide powder, both of which are hexagonal crystals.

 The specifications of the specific silicon carbide powder are as follows:

Differences between black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide

Black silicon carbide powder contains about 98.5% SiC, higher toughness than green silicon carbide, mostly used for processing materials with lower tensile strength, such as glass, ceramics, stone, refractories, cast iron, non-ferrous metals and so on.

Green silicon carbide powder contains more than 99% SiC, good self-sharpening, mostly used for processing cemented carbide, titanium alloy, optical glass, can also be used for honing cylinder liner, high-speed steel tool precision grinding.

For some abrasive products and the polishing and grinding industry, black silicon carbide is not a substitute for green silicon carbide abrasives. Black silicon carbide is less expensive and more economical than green silicon carbide. Although for general stone and ceramic grinding, black silicon carbide can replace green silicon carbide as grinding media. But green silicon carbide has many irreplaceable advantages over black silicon carbide:

1. Higher hardness, the Mohs hardness of green silicon carbide is 9.4-9.5, which is higher than that of black silicon carbide.
2. Higher purity, green silicon carbide SiC purity of not less than 99%.
3. Green silicon carbide production can only use expensive petroleum coke, while black silicon carbide can use petroleum coke and coal coke, the cost difference is very big.
