High Purity Silicon Carbide Powder

 

High purity silicon carbide powder is a powdery substance obtained by separating carbon black and silicon dioxide after high temperature reaction, which has high temperature stability and good corrosion resistance. The production process of high purity silicon carbide powder mainly has two kinds of fire method and chemical vapour deposition method. The powder produced by the fire method is relatively rough, but has a high crystal purity. The chemical vapour deposition method produces products with fine particle size and high crystal purity. It can be applied in electronics, ceramics, metallurgy and other fields.

 

 

Physical separation methods

Physical separation methods are mainly based on the differences between impurities and silicon carbide powder in physical properties, common methods are:

• Sieving method: this method is to sieve out the larger particles of impurities in silicon carbide powder through sieves with different mesh numbers, so as to improve the purity of silicon carbide powder.
• Magnetic separation method: this method is to use the magnetic difference, through the magnetic separator to remove the magnetic impurities in the silicon carbide powder.
• Flotation method: this method is based on the difference between the buoyancy of silicon carbide powder and impurities in water, through the flotation machine for separation.

 

Chemical treatment method

Chemical treatment method is to change the state or nature of impurities through chemical reaction, so as to remove impurities, commonly used methods are:

• Acid washing method: this method uses a dilute acid solution to soak the silicon carbide powder, so that the impurity reacts with the acid and dissolves or transforms into a form that is easy to separate. Finally, the impurities are removed by filtration, washing and other steps.
• Oxidation method: Under high temperature conditions, the impurities in the silicon carbide powder are oxidised with oxygen to produce volatile gases or transformed into other easily separable forms, thus removing the impurities.
