Manganese Tablets

Description

Electrolytic manganese tablets are the pure form of the metallic element manganese (Mn). The manganese content is between 99.7% and 99.9%. It is called "electrolytic" because the refining process involves electrolysis. That is, a chemical reaction driven by an electric current. Iron-like, irregularly shaped flakes, hard and brittle, shiny on one side and rough on the other, silvery white to brown in color. Manganese tablets contain pure manganese and do not contain significant amounts of other elements. They are suitable for applications where the element manganese is particularly required. Manganese Tablets are commonly used in the production of certain types of steel, aluminum alloys, batteries, and as a reducing agent in various metallurgical processes.

How to produce

The production of manganese tablets is dominated by 99.7% purity (most of the manufacturers are now able to achieve more than 99.8%), and only a few manufacturers are able to produce products with 99.9% purity. The main raw materials are manganese oxide ore and manganese carbonate ore. Although the primary liquid preparation process is different, the electrolytic production process is basically the same.
Manganese dioxide method: Mix soft manganese ore with coal powder in a certain proportion, and reduce it by roasting to generate manganese monoxide. Then decompose it with sulfuric acid, neutralize it with ammonia, and remove the impurities by crude filtration. The filtrate is further removed with sodium ethyl xanthate to remove heavy metals, and then filtered to make electrolyte. After electrolysis, manganese is deposited on the cathode plate, the cathode plate is taken out, passivated, washed with hot water, dried and counter-extracted, i.e. manganese metal is obtained.

Application

Manganese tablet has a wide range of applications in the production of steel, stainless steel and non-steel alloys, and plays an important role in desulfurization, deoxidation, alloying, etc. Manganese improves the strength, toughness, abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance of steel.
