About Silicon Magnesium
Ferro silicon magnesium is often abbreviated as FeSiMg, also known as silicon magnesium. Ferro Silicon Magnesium alloys are master alloys of magnesium, iron and silicon. They help to add small amounts of magnesium to iron and convert graphite flakes into spheres. It is an alloy used primarily in the production of ductile iron or ductile cast iron. It is added to iron to promote the formation of graphite spheres. After the addition of FeSiMg spheroidizing agent to the inoculant-treated iron, the flake graphite will gather into spherical graphite and can be maintained for a long time without deformation, thus giving the iron superior mechanical properties. The strength of ductile iron is much higher than gray cast iron, and toughness is better than malleable iron, while maintaining many advantages of gray cast iron.

Improved Mechanical Properties:The addition of silicon magnesium to iron helps to control the microstructure and properties of the resulting alloy. These properties make it suitable for applications involving high temperatures, such as engine components, exhaust manifolds and industrial machinery. In addition, ductile iron has good wear resistance, making it suitable for parts subject to abrasion or sliding contact, such as gears, camshafts and rollers.
