Silica Carbide (commonly known as SiC) is a compound of silicon and carbon that produces extremely hard iridescent crystals. Silica carbide's high thermal conductivity, high-temperature strength, low thermal expansion and resistance to chemical reactions make it valuable in the manufacture of high-temperature bricks and other refractory materials. It is also classified as a semiconductor, with an electrical conductivity between that of metals and insulating materials. This property, combined with its thermal properties, makes silica carbide a promising alternative to traditional semiconductors such as silicon for high-temperature applications.

Application

1. Silica carbide hardness is second only to diamond, has a strong wear resistance. It is an ideal material for lining wear-resistant pipes, impellers, pump chambers, cyclones and ore buckets. Its wear resistance is 5-20 times longer than the service life of cast iron and rubber, and it is also one of the ideal materials for aviation runways.

2. Silica carbide is mainly used in grinding wheels, sandpaper, abrasive belts, sharpening stones, grinding blocks, grinding heads, grinding paste, monocrystalline silicon and polycrystalline silicon in photovoltaic products, and piezoelectric crystals in the electronics industry, etc.

3. Silica carbide is used in large blast furnace lining to improve its service life by its advantages of corrosion resistance, thermal shock resistance, wear resistance and good thermal conductivity.
