To obtain the calcined carbonization properties required by the carbon and graphite industries, coke must withstand temperatures of 1150-1350 degrees Celsius or higher to achieve density and electrical conductivity. The final quality of calcined char is directly related to the specific characteristics and quality of the coke fed into the calciner. While calcination does not improve some of the quality limitations inherent in coke production, improper calcination may result in a loss of potential quality.

Application

In aluminium production,petroleum coke is essential in aluminium production. It is used in the manufacture of anodes, which are essential for the electrolysis process that separates aluminium from its oxides. In addition to this, petroleum coke is used in the production of titanium dioxide, as a component of brake pads and clutches and in the manufacture of lithium-ion batterie.
